11 – Fulfillments of Christ Simplifies All
The apparent vastness and complexity of The Bible is simplified by the fulfillments in Jesus Christ.
Seeming Complexity to Simplicity

- The common Bible canon has 66 separate books. It is a vast book.
- The King James Version of the Bible has 783,137 words.
- Many of the messages, so far, have been preliminary.
- However, if you have reviewed a number of these messages, they should begin to show the connectedness and unity of The Bible in Jesus Christ.
The Role of The Scriptures
Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. Hebrews 1:1-2 ESV
You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life. John 5:39-40 ESV
I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 ESV
But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. John 15:26 ESV

Christ Came to Fulfill The Scriptures
Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill [πληρόω (plēroō)] them. Matthew 5:17 ESV
Some prefer to interpret “fulfill” as “fill up”, as in “adding more”. Is that a proper understanding of the meaning of “fulfill”? How did Jesus Christ and the apostles demonstrate the use of the word “fulfill”?
The Bereans
The brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived they went into the Jewish synagogue. Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. Acts 17:10-11 ESV
And Paul went in, as was his custom, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and proving that it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ.” Acts 17:2-3 ESV
Luke 24:44-46
He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”
Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, Luke 24:44-46 ESV

Christ Fulfills ALL
See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. For in him the whole [entire, all] fullness [fulfillment, πλήρωμα (plērōma)] of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled [fulfilled, πληρόω (plēroō)] in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. Colossians 2:8-10 ESV
Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. Colossians 2:16-17 NIV
Knowledge of Jesus Christ
Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 2 Timothy 3:7 KJV
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 ESV
…For what is written about me has its fulfillment. Luke 22:37 ESV
“But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. John 15:26 ESV

Review
- Jesus Christ came to fulfill.
- He fulfilled by DOING, as in fulfilling prophecy.
- Jesus Christ is the Fulfillment, Reality, Embodiment of what the scriptures pointed towards.
- God’s Feasts not only provide a framework, but details, and the greater framework for connecting all into the simplicity that is in Christ: What He did, is doing, and will do – revealing His very nature – One Spirit.
You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life. John 5:39-40 ESV
