CLBC is considered by some to be a member of the Black Madeira fig family, but is clearly different from others in the BM family. Due to its premium flavor, greater cold hardiness, resistance to FMV, split resistant, and earlier production, it is called by some the “Black Madeira killer”. The best way I can think of to describe CLBC: Imagine blending a Noire de Barbentane and a Black Madeira, and you come up with CLBC.
