LSU Scott’s Black
Though Scott’s Black has the best flavor of all of the LSU varieties we have trialed, it is late and hates the rain, so we have culled it.
LSU Scott’s Black Fig Variety Features
- A common fig type, which does NOT require caprification
- An official release (2015) from the LSU fig collection (our favorite flavor of the LSU varieties)
- Produces a breba crop
- Produces after die-back
- Very productive
- Fast grower
- Does well in pots
- A rich berry fig with a very good creamy texture – develops molasses flavor when fully ripe
Col de Dame Grise VS/Not is very likely a synonym for Scott’s Black.
