Moscatel Preto Fig Variety Features

Our mother tree is planted into a swale, but the soil is somewhat poor. Though often considered an aggressive grower, highly productive, and producing larger figs, the growth of our mother tree has only been OK, fig production has been OK, fig size is small. And the figs are kinda ugly. But when I had my first taste of this fig, I knew it to be a keeper for sure. Flavor is caramel, vanilla, and a complex berry that is difficult to describe. Starts producing mid season and continues up through frost. Handled the raining summer quite well, in spite of some of the ostioles being a bit open.
